middle fork Idaho’s
Middle Fork of the Salmon River is the nation’s premier wilderness
river. Offering a spectacular journey of both whitewater adventure
and wilderness solitude, the Middle Fork is a crystal clear, pristine
mountain river that tumbles through the heart of Idaho’s 2.3
million-acre River of No Return Wilderness Area
whitewater rafting The
Middle Fork offers a new rapid or riffle around every corner. It
is a wonderfully diverse river with whitewater ranging from long
technical rapids that require precise maneuvering, to exhilarating
drops at Velvet and Tappan Falls, to the heart-pounding big waves
of the Impassable Canyon. There are over 80 rapids in all with the
largest being class IV.
fishing tours If
you enjoy fishing, the Middle Fork of the Salmon is one of the premier
trout streams in the West. An almost endless stretch of pools and
riffles. A succession of perfect spots for fly and spin casters to
try for native rainbows and Westslope cutthroats, known locally as “redsides.” Or
perhaps you’ll land an elusive Dolly Varden.
camp and cuisine The
standard of excellence extended by Middle Fork River Tours continues
off of the Salmon River with our comfortably detailed camp. Be assured
that we take care of all camp chores while you swim, fish, hike,
relax in a hot spring, or just enjoy this beautiful river setting.
When your whitewater raft hits the beach after a day of fun on the
river, you will find your tent already set up, drinks and hors d’oeuvres
waiting, with gourmet dutch oven cuisine to follow.
